It also allows them to move around freely and safely. Materials are chosen based on their size and the children’s strength. Mirrors, activity mats, play gyms, rattles, and sensory toys can be pulled, pushed, stacked, and nested, allowing children to explore and follow their instinctive curiosity while also developing their visual, tactile and auditory senses and improving balance and eye/hand coordination. Language plays an important role in all daily activities. Children learn to absorb languages because they are associated with the activities they are performing.

Activities at the child’s pace

Children are greeted at the nursery between 08:00 and 09:00 a.m. Every activity during the day is done at the child’s pace, especially changing and sleeping. During early learning, children are free to explore both indoors and outdoors. Once they are familiar with the setting, they will start showing their inclination towards certain activities, which are suggested first according to how their interest in the other areas evolves. The Montessori guide monitors each child’s progress and suggests new discoveries, respecting their pace and inclinations.

Mealtime as an educational moment

At the nursery, younger infants eat on their own according to a schedule.
